For the LDS woman listening to the creation story: YOU are a Creator

The very first story God tells us, repeated over and over, is the creation story.  It’s a bit Rumplestiltsken-ish, isn’t it?  Remember him?  The one who turned straw into gold?  Well our Heavenly Parents kick it up a notch - they took chaos and created a whole world!  But the creation story isn’t a children’s fairy tale, it's a training session on how to become creators - like Them.

Look what we... right now... already... are creating:

We take strangers and boundaries drawn on a map, and we create friendships and ward communities

We take questions and doubt, and we create testimonies

We take songs, and we create prayers

We take disillusionment, and we create faith.

We take a you’ve-got-to-be-kidding-me calling, and we create a willing heart.

We take suffering, and we create compassion.

We take big screw ups, and we create space… for learning and for mercy.

We take a house full of messy imperfect people, and we create eternal families.

We take devastating news, and we band together and create service opportunities.

We take an ordinary piece of bread and a sip of water, and we create covenant lives.

We take sin, and we create a real and personal appreciation for our Savior

We take darkness, and we say, as our Creator did, “let there be light!”

As Latter day Saint women in partnership with Christ, and endowed with His power, we are taking the imperfect materials of mortality and creating vibrant spiritual lives and loving Zion communities.

Take that Rumplestiltsken.
